OFFICIATING & RULES

Officiating in the BRHC

The BRHC is a division of the East Coast Collegiate Hockey Association (ECCHA) which provide top quality officials throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of United States.

The ECCHA provides on-going support, reviews and supervision for on-ice officials to ensure that the highest standards of sporting conduct and integrity are maintained. The confidence and diligence of ECCHA officials is crucial for the highest officiating standards, and each official is expected to enforce all playing rules fairly and respectfully, keeping in mind the safety and best interests of the players at all times. With a high standard of ethics and a diligence to the rules of the sport, ECCHA officials have other responsibilities, such as developing and maintaining positive relationships between league commissioners, players, coaches, fans, and the general public.

To referee for college games in the Mid-Atlantic region, ECCHA officials must successfully pass the ACHA written examination. Applicants must also be certified by USA Hockey Official as Level 3 (or above), provide excellent references from prior officiating organizations, and demonstrate ability to Officiating Regional Directors.
